April seems to be the month for concept cars. There are actually several unique automobiles came into the scene and again, amazed many car aficionados. Car concept nowadays seems to fall into two categories. There is the rebel type that tends to possess distinct characteristics, a kind of vehicle that is embraced from a different concept. Endowed with variety that pushes the boundaries of the vehicle design and thinking, the other type is the conservative one which has a practical flavor that show us the latest innovations we are likely to see on the showroom floor in not too the distant future.

Now, Kia Motors Corporation KOUP belongs to the latter type. It was added on the conservative type of vehicles, and by the car’s appearance, the future of Kia design appears to be slick. The Kia KOUP was first scene into the public at the 2008 New York International Auto Show or NYIAS. It is crafted with aggressive exterior lines that are backed by a 2.0-liter Theta II turbocharged engine equipped with a GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) twin scroll turbocharger that puts out 290 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque between 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm. It actually has a muscular stance that compliments by the use of the prominent wheel flares, short overhangs and the wedge shaped profile. Likewise, it has a chin spoiler, side view mirrors, rear bumper insert, cowl panel and rear diffuser that includes carbon fiber enhancements, with carbon fiber and black chrome enhanced LED lamp lenses, twin panoramic-view glass roof panels and open design wheels that reveal the Brembo® calipers and cross-drilled rotors adding further impact to the exterior design.

This new Kia masterpiece offer interior features which includes inward leaning dashboard and race-inspired steering wheel in front of a three-gauge instrument cluster and steering column-mounted paddle shifters for the six-speed automatic transmission. Telematics includes a Bluetooth-enabled navigation system and entertainment is delivered via an eight speaker system including large rear deck speakers matched to a juke box audio system. How about the power and efficiency? Well, it is boosted by the GDI or the Gasoline Direct Injection mechanism that is responsible in injecting the fuel directly into the cylinder under high pressure. It was built to cool the intake charge as well as further improve the combustion behavior to deliver an excellent fuel economy as well as low emissions.

Meanwhile, the concept of the front-wheel drive shows off a superior handling by means of an engine speed sensitive, power-assisted rack and pinion steering system and the use of Continuous Damping Control (CDC) for quick movements and sharp turns paired with a sport-tuned, four-wheel independent suspension and strut tower bar for tighter grip during more spirited driving. And for those who are meticulous on the safety stuffs, this car is for you. Kia KOUP is fully calibrated with safety highlights which include six standard airbags, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), plus adaptive front lighting and cruise control. The Kia KOUP is a new concept of car that represents the future of the Kia brand as well as its dynamic lines of vehicles that truly speak the company’s core philosophies. In fact, Kia is striving more to appeal the emotional side of the car enthusiasts who are seeking for something exciting, an adventure or those who wants to take a leap into the future but with style and advanced technology and the Kia KOUP essentially provides.

And probably, if there’s one celebrity who will own this one, I think, it will be 50 Cents. Hmm..Ok, Jay Z can have it too. In fact, if you want to own a Kia KOUP, you better have more money for this one. And right now, nobody can afford such unless you’re wealthy. I’ma talkin’ about money fella’s.
